Lands End: choose the route as carefully as the view
Lands End offers a coastal trail setting in San Francisco. The National Park Service describes the trails and visitor access, including the need to stay on trails and keep away from cliffs. Treat that guidance as part of the location choice, not something to solve after arriving in formal clothes.
Think about how far you want to walk, whether an exposed setting sounds enjoyable and what layer you would like to wear if it is windy. Share any mobility needs before deciding on a specific section. Check current access information near your date; a photograph from a previous visit cannot establish that a route is open now.
City streets: choose a small area
An architectural session can be built around a neighborhood or a few nearby streets rather than a tour of the entire city. Decide what appeals to you: the scale of buildings, a quiet residential texture or somewhere connected to your own story. Then look at the practical route between the places.
Public sidewalks, private courtyards and indoor spaces have different boundaries. Ask before using a business entrance or stepping onto private property. Leave room for pedestrians and avoid planning a photograph that depends on controlling a busy public space. An alternative nearby is more useful than an expectation that one exact doorway will be empty.
Gardens: check the operator's rules
A garden may suit you if a contained setting sounds better than a longer walk. Before naming one as your session location, check who manages it, when you can enter and whether professional photography requires a separate arrangement. Do not assume an admission ticket includes every kind of photo session.
Also ask about the paths, seating and space to change a layer or shoes. You do not need a particular flower to be in bloom for a garden to be a meaningful setting. If a specific seasonal feature is the reason you chose it, verify that expectation close to the date.
Permission is specific to the activity
A portrait session and a wedding ceremony are different activities. NPS explains its current filming and photography permit policy; check that policy and the individual park's information rather than assume that every professional session either needs a permit or is exempt. Other land managers set their own requirements.
Pick one starting point
