Weddings

A wedding day does not hold still, and it does not repeat. My job is to be there for the whole shape of it and to stay out of the way while it happens.

That means arriving while the room is still quiet and someone is doing your hair. It means the ten minutes before the ceremony that nobody plans and everybody remembers. The vows. The face of the person watching you say them. The toast that goes off script. The hour after dinner when the light drops and the party finds its second wind.

There are two of us, on every collection. One camera cannot be in two rooms, and the moment you are getting ready is the same moment your partner is. A second photographer is what turns a record of the day into an account of it.

You will not be posed. I give small prompts, mostly about where to walk and where to stand, and then I stop talking. What follows is yours.
