A San Francisco City Hall wedding has a few decisions that come before the photography timeline: which ceremony you are booking, who will attend, and which spaces your reservation actually includes. Once those are clear, the photographs can fit around the day you want.

Start with the ceremony booking
The San Francisco County Clerk reservation page explains its civil ceremony appointments and directs couples seeking a specific venue or a larger guest group to City Hall Events. Those are distinct arrangements. A building photograph you like may show a space or event setup that is not included in your appointment.
Before setting a portrait schedule, confirm the appointment details directly with the office handling your booking. Keep its instructions available on the day. Allow space for arrival, any required check-in and getting everyone to the correct meeting point. Avoid making the entire schedule depend on a precise ceremony finish time.
Count both photographers in the guest plan
The County Clerk currently limits its civil ceremony to six guests, including photographers and children. With both of our photographers attending, that leaves four places within that guest allowance. Confirm the current rule with the Clerk for your appointment, particularly if a witness or other participant also needs a place.
If that does not fit your group, discuss the appropriate ceremony arrangement with City Hall Events before booking. We do not assume an exception to the limit or ask family members to work around it on arrival. A clear guest plan protects the part of the day that matters most: being there together for the ceremony.
Portraits should fit the building on the day
Write down the photographs that matter to you, such as the two of you together, a small family group and a portrait that shows the architecture. Keep that list flexible. A particular staircase, corridor or angle may not be available when you reach it, and a public building is not an exclusive photo set.
Let us know about mobility needs or a guest who cannot stand for long. Plan family photographs around a reachable meeting place rather than sending people ahead to look for an exact backdrop.
